Irish Round tower

Round Tower in Glendalough, County Wicklow.

The tower is 33 mtrs tall and was built during the era of the Viking invasions into Ireland (up to and around 1066), in order to protect the religious books and chalices used around the monastery at the time.

  • Bernard Abbott: Oh, this is ridiculous.
  • Martin Bishop: He’s serious.

  • Bernard Abbott: We are the United States Government! We don’t do that sort of thing.
  • Martin Bishop: You’re just gonna have to try.
  • Bernard Abbott: All right, I’ll see what I can do.
  • Whistler: Thank you very much. That’s all I ask.

The garden designer must conceal his creative innovations under the guise of nature. A close examination of many garden walks and pavement reveal the most intricate and creative patterns but they are tendered inconspicuous by the utilization of natural and subdued colors and textures.

HON HIEW (2 November 1973 – 25 October 2003)

I can’t believe I only just found out that you are gone forever. I had thought of you a couple of times over the last few weeks as I caught up with old school friends on Facebook. I’d even done a couple of searches for your name there and wondered when you’d be signing up. I was looking forward to finding out what you’d been up to, reminiscing a bit, and maybe share a joke or two with you. I still remembered your sense of humour even after all these years.

Then Nicole drops a bombshell. Did you know…? I didn’t. I was shocked and saddened. I SHOULD have known. I’m deeply saddened that I didn’t know.

I’ve pieced together stuff about you by searching on Google. Memories of you on your friends blogs, traces of your own thoughts in the Internet Archive, passing mentions here and there. Ghosts on the Internet.

I’m having a drink tonight and remembering you mate. Wherever you are, I hope you’re kicking back and keeping the locals entertained with your witty banter. Rest in peace.
